SUMMARY:Annual Research Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Minnesota is in the middle of a teen and young adults mental health crisis\, with increasing mental illnesses\, suicide\, and substance use disorder rates that often co-occur in people with mental illnesses to cope with overwhelming symptoms. To address this crisis\, NAMI Minnesota and the University of Minnesota’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences are joining efforts to offer information at the Annual Research Dinner on these topics for family members\, people who work with youth\, teachers\, researchers\, professionals\, and other community members. The event will take place on Tuesday\, February 25th\, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast\, located at 1330 Industrial Boulevard Northeast\, Minneapolis\, MN 55413. \nDoors open at 5:30 PM\, dinner will be served at 6:00 PM\, and presentations will run from 6:15 PM to 8:00 PM. The event costs $55 per person\, including an entree\, salad\, and dessert. Participants can also earn 1.5 social work CEUs. \nThe evening’s presentations will include “How Teen Substance Use and Teen Mental Illness are Intertwined\,” presented by Brenden Tervo-Clemmens\, PhD\, LP\, Assistant Professor; “A New Clinic for Early Bipolar Illness\,” presented by Kate Miley\, PhD\, CNP\, PMHNP-BC\, Adjunct Assistant Professor; and “Latest Research on Teen Suicidality\,” presented by Charles Lewis\, MD\, Assistant Professor. \nNAMI Minnesota strives to make events accessible to all.
